29,000 Emails

My AppleMail is acting really cranky lately. Why? Well, I had 34,000 messages in the "sent" folder. A couple well informed Apple geeks told me that was simply bad hygiene. My sent folder dated back to October of 2004. Just cleared out enough to have just one year there….

Just cleared out enough to have just one year there. So how many mails did I send in one year, from Jan 2005 to Jan 2006? About 29,000.

Jesus.

Yeah, I know, if I had Gmail….I do have it, but I prefer mail clients on my Mac. Call me old fashioned.

  1. Mmmh, why not using gmail with your apple mail app? Depending on your adress, you can use the pop server pop.googlemail.com and smpt.googlemail.com – having redundancy on the web and on your local machine would be a good idea, no?

  2. Is this number truly right?
Because, that would be about sending around 80 messages daily! If you take something close to 3 minutes to write each email, it would take 4 hours daily just to write them…
Add to that the time needed to read your incoming email (usually 4 or 5 times more than you receive) it would sum close to 5/6 hours…
busy day just with emails… 🙂

  3. Lucas, maybe the outgoing email counter counts each CC as an email sent out, so if John is sending out bulk emails that would skew your calculations and give him some time to sleep hehe.
