Before I follow those links — why are those startups supposedly “notable”?
Kosmix is a good resource to look out things on net. It looks out for a search keyword on every “Segment” on net and presents it on a single page, be it:

Video
Social networking sites
Myspace etc
Never had much exp with SearchMe and Caught On.

One clarification: at Kosmix, we don’t think we’re building a search engine, but something entirely new and different. Search engines are great for finding needles in haystacks. Kosmix is about exploring the haystack. Details here:
