Well, it was cool for a while, but SearchMob did not work for any number of reasons, including my lack of attention to it, spammers, technical difficulties, and, well, a failure to get critical mass. I’m yanking it today, and I plan to introduce easier to use community features that are less susceptible to spam soon. 1. People come to your blog because of you. Because of your take on this industry. Not to access a Digg-like information channel that is the opposite of your thoughtfully edited posts etc. They simply have a different mindset when they are at this site, which doesn’t fit with SearchMob. The good side of this is that the growth of the number of visitors of your blog will still continue 😉

  2. I second Merijn’s comments.

Sometimes I think that’s one of the big ironies in Web 2.0. The wisdom you get from a crowd is often lowest common denominator wisdom. Sometimes you just can’t beat the single point, strong voice of experience and insight and foresight.

    That’s really not a suck-up. Just a general observation.
