The real irony is that the twitter search that you linked to provided a near zero context or accuracy for the story. Twitter, in it's current form, does not have 1% of Google's ability to sift through and aggregate relevant information.
Gooogle have joined in the lay-off company team
Don't know what the accuracy looked like when MikeF posted his comment but the feed seems to have plenty of relevant comments now.
Tim Anderson writing that memo is pretty ironic in itself. I guess you could say he is sharing the pain.
