Yahoo's purchase is a big buzz here at PCForum. Everyone wants to know how much - just as they did with Bloglines. I don't have an exact figure, but my sources, which saw the deal but did not do the deal, say around $15-$17 million. I do not know if there is an earn out as well, there may well be.

» Yahoo! buys Flickr. Damn that was a smart purchase! from Stephan Spencer's Scatterings
No secret that I think Flickr is hot stuff (just refer back to my recent posts about Flickr here and here). It's definitely Web 2.0 material. Flickr investors like Esther Dyson must be pretty happy right now, but Yahoo! stockholders should be even happ... [Read More]

So how does Flickr, which is interesting, sell for 17$ million when Ask Jeeves, which is not interesting, sells for $1bn ?
In regards to 'how much', Om Malik has posted "My sources tell me the price tag is close to $35 million".
AskJeeves is clearly the more valuable property among the two in terms of monetization and traffic, but I was surprised at the low price tag for Flickr. Even $35 million seems to be something of a bargain for such a big up&comer in the web world.
