41228800 Google203Bbc2When I was in London a while back, I got the chance to spend time with the BBC. These guys are fun to talk with. Then they came by my offices (in Ross, before we moved to Sausalito), and that ended up on the Money Programme, which takes an indepth look at Google.

  1. The click through didn’t really offer too much depth. “They’re a portal but don’t like it when you call them that.” + “Five times the valuation of Coca Cola.” Yawn… 🙂

I’ll take “The Search” any day!

Congrats on spelling it correctly. 😉 Computer program, but TV programme.

    Hi John,

I saw the BBC programme last Friday. I thought you came across well and overall the BBC seemed to give a fairly balanced view of Google although they did express concerns over the amount of information Google may have about us in the future.

I don’t know if was purely coincidence but it was shown on the day that Google turned down the White House subpoena!

Martin said it was good but he was surprised how they didn’t really discuss the privacy implications for business, which are obviously a big concern.

    Hi John,

Being a Brit living in SF, I catch a lot of UK TV via bittorrent at I saw this show the other day and was surprised to see you on it. Overall the show was a little weak, targetted like most of the Money Programme editions at a broader audience rather than the likes of us

btw, I enjoy your ongoing commentary.. I’ve been reading this blog for a long time, and also read The Search last year

    keep up the good work

Just wanted to say that I thought it was great you were featured on the programme – you gave it some balanced credibility, which was great.

As mentioned on my blog, you can view the programme directly:

As a bonus you can also see parts of the interview with John Battele which were not broadcast in full during the programme:
