  1. Assuming the rumors are actually true, the acquisition would appear to make quite a bit of sense for everyone involved.

    Insight into the feeds users subscribe to will finally allows Jeeves to get into the personal search game. It should improve the targeting of both their search results and their advertising (not only on Ask.com, but the broader Excite Network as well).

    At the same time, questions have been raised about whether Bloglines could exist as a standalone entity now that Yahoo! and MSN are offering feed aggregators of their own — Bloglines may be better off as a feature within a larger company like Ask Jeeves.

  2. The boom is certainly back, but Google notwithstanding, it is still hard to see the economics justifying it.

    But clearly the last fool theory is once again in the saddle.
