In my opinion quora.com puts too much emphasis on “the one right answer” (for most questions, there is no one right answer that will remain valid for all time). Insofar as quora is a general Q&A site, there should be more emphasis on reaching consensus rather than separating the wheat from the chaff (cf. http://etique.net/57/segregation-vs-integration-how-different-opinions-about-social-order-impact-the-design-of-social-networks-affect-the-societies-we-create ) I enjoy being enriched by different points of view, and I think quora could become very successful if the rules were not as strict, especially considering that the world is so complex and for the most part remains a puzzle (i.e., very little — if anything at all — has been “solved”). I appreciate the way the wiki is intended to separate the gist from the long-winded responses (like this one .
