		<description>&lt;p&gt;It&#039;s even worse than that.  For the second year in a row our local FIRST Robotics team has won the top award at a regional in another - much bigger - city.  The kids work on this year round - putting literally thousands of hours in building the robot, and then competing with it, as wel as community service, fundraising, training and mentoring other students and teams.  Do you think the newspapers or local television takes even a MENTION of this? NO.  Because STEM is unimportant compared to really interesting news like how the local basketball team did or (god help me - this is a real story from today&#039;s paper) &quot;fire damages local garage&quot;.  Check the article above for my rant - unfortunately it&#039;s a year later - the kids did a repeat in Boston of what they did in Chesapeake - winning the regional Chairmans and coming in 2nd in the robot competition with exactly the same response from media - nada.  Sigh.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
