On the 70-20-10 rule: Eric Schmidt, the Google CEO, alleges the rule was arrived at through some clever maths from Sergey Brin. I find that a pretty unlikely story, since getting an innovation process right is, I think, more of an art form than a hard science. That mad disruptive edge depends a lot on personalities, serendipity, and whim.

Thanks to you and Melanie for putting all these great notes together. Liveblogging is not easy - I've done it, but not very well - and these notes will keep me busy for a while!

There's so much being released by Google and MSN lately that I have not had the time to absorb or fully use any of the new products. I'm hoping to do just that in the next week or two (unless they offer up more new products)!

I am a physician and I use google for quick querries all the time. I was looking for information on second line treatment of high cholesterol and was shuffled into the beta(?) of google health and was amazed at how simple and effective it was.

Trends is powerful, for example for "life extension" the 2 top cities are Miami and Frisco, which fits with the knowledge, that Miami is the center of the Grey Zone, and Frisco is a big biotech center. Selected by regions the number 2 Australia is interesting but not a surprise since Australia's biotech industry is evolving with a very rapid pace. In "plastic surgery" the winner is... L.A. :O)
Congratulations.

Google Trends = Yahoo! Buzz Index (for pay version)

Yahoo! built the Yahoo! Buzz Index over 4 years ago with more features (demographics) than Google Trends. There is two versions of the Yahoo! Buzz Index (free version) and the for Pay Version (https://client.buzz.yahoo.com/internal) which allow you to slice and dice data to your heart's content.
