Initial coverage here (Silicon Beat), and I am sure far more places will cover it as the day rolls on.

Meanwhile, Blinkx’ Mac version is now out as well, I have downloaded the client and look forward to trying it out. It’s called an “0.5 beta” so if it erases my entire hard drive….

  1. At last, a MAC version of blinkx. I had a couple of problems to start with, but seems to be running ok now. I’ve used the PC version for the last 3 months, but I mostly use a MAC, so I’m a happy boy. It’s still pre-beta, so I’d expect a few glitches but I’m sure these guys will iron them out soon enough. Hats off to them!

  2. What’s with this hype around the desktop search? My guesses next to searching the desktop:
    – desktop search is an entry to personalised search (since the data at the desktop is your profile, and resumes of this profile could be sent to any web-search service which uses it for its ranking)
    – desktop search is an entry to broadband-content search (since the indexing of broadband content has to be done at the edges of the network, where the intelligence should reside ideally; P2P search and we have E2E again)

  3. After the hard time I gave you when you posted the Blinx press release in its entirety, I’ll be very interested in what your experience is. I hope they did a better job on the Mac.
