Google News is a great site…(but) If you want to know what the top stories are, you’re better off going to a news site that has an actual human editor (at this point we’d be remiss if we didn’t plug The Wall Street Journal Online), but some of the stuff that makes its way through Google’s algorithms can be a source of high hilarity.
Example: A left-wing site called Axis of Logic published a satirical (though unfunny) article yesterday titled “Canadians Authorities Arrest U.S. President Bush on War Charges,” and it ended up as Google’s top story. Seriously.

I read Google News (i prefer my bias automated) and have several times been subjected to viewing things such as beheadings in thumbnails, and often times personal rants from blogs that have been pulled in as news feeds. Still, at least i’m well rounded. I can’t separate left from right or fact from fiction, but quiz me on world events and i’ll blow anyone who reads only the WSJ or NYT out of the water.
So an actual human editor, like James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal Online, who has no problem citing Newsmax.com as a source, is no less hilarious?
