Search Engine Parody: Aks Jeeves

By - September 16, 2004

mungA hilarious send up of the Ask butler, the patrician tighty-whitey who recently has gone missing from Ask’s home page in some kind of PR stunt. Not work safe, and some might argue it’s racist, though I imagine that depends who’s behind it, and I have no idea who that might be (the site says “Mung 2003″ and is based off I-am-bored.com).

Hat tip: Beal.

  1. Andy Beal says:

And of course, Ask Jeeves using a stereotypical British butler isn’t racist against us Brits! ;-)

  2. Ron says:

It’s sad that “who’s behind it” determines of it’s racist. Shouldn’t racist be racist, no matter who says it? Is it OK for me to make fun of pasty-white geeks, but no one else? Hmmm…

  3. Petey says:

Shouldn’t you be working on your book?

  4. Mike says:

Funniest thing I’ve seen in awhile.

  5. Petey: Yes. Ron: I was trying to be sensitive to those who might find it offensive, but I’m going to punt on debating race.

  6. Obviously someone read that “Perfect Search” story.

    Can’t wait for the toolbar.

This was created by brian mung of brianmung.com but it’s not on his site, he was sent a takedown notice by ask jeeves. The notice is probably on the site, along with many uniquely disturbing flash animations, although it’s not been updated for a while.
