39% seems a bit low. I think I’ve done a vanity search once for everybody.
I agree with Randy. The follow-up should be “percent of people who won’t admit they Google themselves.”
The study was a great reminder for me to search for myself again, only to discover someone mentioning my name and saying I’m not the same guy as the serial killer. How original, I never heard that one before.
Perhaps I don’t need to do the vanity searches after all.
One of the “good” thing about having a fairly unique last name is you are pretty easy to find in Google – but one of the “bad” thing is anything you do is easily findable by Google … and I imagine in your situation having the same name as someone who is notorious is somewhat cause for concern.
