Gigablast now has related concepts at the top. In his blog, Matt Wells points out that his engine runs on eight desktop machines. Check it out. It’s damn fast (and good) for eight machines.

Hmm. It feels a lot like something I worked on last year in Y! Search. It ran on a single server.

Yeah, the question is/are just what kind/size of server, what size index, what types of queries, what kind of query performance, number of queries per second, etc.
