To be fair, AdBlock really does seem to have issues with messing up many things that are not actually ads. Even with no flash objects in the block list, it will regularly cause flash to malfunction. As soon as you disable it, they work fine.
Are strained which the new Toolbar can, have to today no German version found to to load.

As Kevin mentioned, AdBlock has issues. I took a little while to realize when using amazon.com my "Add to Shopping Cart" button was missing because of AdBlock. I have since gotten AdBlock Plus which allows whitelisting. There's also a more accurate filterset (Filterset.G) out there that does a better job of detecting ads (and only ads), and gets updated to fix these things.
S5, the Simple Standards-Based Slide Show System (by Eric Meyer) also has an issue with AdBlock, so I'm thinking the latter is the culprit.
The latest adblock is pretty good, i use firefox with adblock and the chat works fine, adding yet another distraction in my workday!
Adblock's (regular or plus) problems are mostly caused by the "Obj-Tabs" option. Turn those off, and most of these problems go away.
